The last year I have been moving away from romance novels and diving into mystery/suspense books. I am really enjoying them including this one. I love how the author started out from the POV of Michael because the way she did it made the ending that much more shocking. I didn't see it coming.
The only thing that bothers me in this genre so far is the deep violence against women. I don't shock too easily but it seems the poor women are always the victims and it usually always includes rape. However this author balanced that with the men getting their fair share. Violence is awful anyway you look at it but a murder mystery doesn't always have to have a raped woman at the heart of it.
I am really looking forward to reading the second book in the Will Trent series.
